Christmas Day 2014

After a long day of travel on Tuesday, I arrived back in New Albany, IN (right across the Ohio river from Louisville KY) safe and sound. Christmas eve found me in the confessional from 10-noon at St. Augustine parish in Jeffersonville and then back to the rectory to work on the Christmas homily. Fr. Marcotte and I (he is the young priest who basically covers the two Jeffersonville parishes that I administer) had scheduled 4:00 PM Mass in both parishes which really went well as both churches were packed. He took the Midnight Mass at St. Augustine while I took the 10:00 AM Mass this morning at Most Sacred Heart of Jesus parish. Now I’m back at the rectory wading through a mound of cards and letters, answering emails and texts, and packing for my flight to Boston tomorrow. I’ll be spending Christmas week with Mom and family in and around New England.

Meanwhile, Msgr. McDermott and the folks back in Burlington VT are scrambling to get things ready for the installation on January 29. All my prayers for them and all of you on this blessed day. Merry Christmas!
